Licensing

To help you explore the plugins and their features, GroupDocs provides a free trial and a temporary license for evaluation.

Note
General policies and practices guide you on evaluating, licensing, and purchasing our products. See the Purchase Policies and FAQ section for details.

Free Trial or Temporary License

Free Trial

The evaluation version is identical to the full version: it becomes fully licensed when you apply a license. Instructions for setting a license are provided in the following sections.

The evaluation version has the following limitations:

  • Only the first three pages are processed. A merged document, or a document with pages removed, has at most three pages, and a split produces at most three parts.
  • An evaluation message is added to every page of the output documents.

Temporary License

If you’d like to test GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode without the limitations of the trial version, you can request a temporary license. For more information, see the Get a Temporary License page.

Plugins Are Licensed Separately

Each of the seven plugins (JoinPdf, JoinDocx, JoinPptx, SplitPdf, SplitDocx, SplitPptx, and RemovePagesPdf) is licensed in its own right. A metered license issued for one plugin is rejected by the others with an InvalidOperationException that names the plugins involved. A product family or Total license covers all seven plugins, and so does a standard license file.

How to Set Up a License

Set the license once per application, before you use any GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode plugin.

Set License Keys

You can set the public and private keys of a metered license directly. The following sample demonstrates how to set license keys.

using GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode;

// The public and private keys from your license
string publicKey = "...";
string privateKey = "...";

// Set license keys
License.Set(publicKey, privateKey);
Imports GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode

Module Program
    Sub Main()
        ' The public and private keys from your license
        Dim publicKey As String = "..."
        Dim privateKey As String = "..."

        ' Set license keys
        License.Set(publicKey, privateKey)
    End Sub
End Module
open GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode

[<EntryPoint>]
let main _ =
    // The public and private keys from your license
    let publicKey = "..."
    let privateKey = "..."

    // Set license keys
    License.Set(publicKey, privateKey)
    0

Set License from File

The following code demonstrates setting a license from a file. License.Set accepts both a metered license file and a standard license file, and detects which one it was given.

using GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode;

// The path to the license file. The path can be relative or absolute.
string licensePath = "GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode.lic";

// Apply the license
License.Set(licensePath);
Imports GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode

Module Program
    Sub Main()
        ' The path to the license file. The path can be relative or absolute.
        Dim licensePath As String = "GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode.lic"

        ' Apply the license
        License.Set(licensePath)
    End Sub
End Module
open GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode

[<EntryPoint>]
let main _ =
    // The path to the license file. The path can be relative or absolute.
    let licensePath = "GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode.lic"

    // Apply the license
    License.Set(licensePath)
    0

Place the License File Next to the Application

If no license has been set when a plugin runs, the plugin looks for the first file with the .lic extension in the application base directory, for example bin/Debug/net8.0, and applies it. This is a best-effort fallback: a missing or invalid file leaves the plugins in evaluation mode.

Use GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode Together with Other Plugin Packages

Each GroupDocs plugin package has its own License class, for example GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode.License and GroupDocs.Conversion.LowCode.License. If a project references more than one package, use the full class names to avoid ambiguity:

GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode.License.Set("GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode.lic");
GroupDocs.Conversion.LowCode.License.Set("GroupDocs.Conversion.LowCode.lic");

How Licensing Works

License.Set accepts two kinds of licenses:

  • Metered license: a public key and a private key. Pass them to License.Set(publicKey, privateKey), or keep them in an XML license file and pass its path to License.Set(licensePath). Metered licenses are validated through our licensing service, so an Internet connection is required. Usage is reported for billing.
  • Standard license: a .lic file issued with your purchase. Pass its path to License.Set(licensePath); it is validated offline.

A metered license file contains the two keys:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<License>
  <PublicKey>...</PublicKey>
  <PrivateKey>...</PrivateKey>
</License>

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common licensing issues you may encounter when using GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode:

  1. Check your Internet connection: metered licenses are validated online
  2. Make sure a metered license was issued for the plugin you use
  3. Verify the license file is not corrupted
  4. Ensure you’re using the latest version of the GroupDocs.Merger.LowCode package
